Hopefully they are not aware of their death and go peacefully. Full disclosure this process was used in tandem with medications and only used when the whole tank would have mass deaths or for those fish being eaten to death. Otherwise we let nature take its course.

A more compelling exhibit would be one where, every hour, someone had to press the button so as to ensure the blender did not start. How many hours would the fish live? How many people would take actions to save the lives of these fish, and to what level would they coordinate, as a single hour loss of coverage would result in their death? What would it say about us as a race that we don’t do all we can to save our fellow humans, but might coordinate (or not) to save a fish?
