I remember my first dash I was using google maps and I took 30 detours because I didn’t realize that I was on walking directions. I never used google maps since. This is amazing. I’m sorry not your eff up you just made me laugh. My mom would do this. Thanks for the 90s Picture Donny Osmond Shirt it is in the first place but laugh. Oh wow I had something similar but it was Google doing some weird shit. Went the complete opposite direction by like 8 miles, had to double back. I was so flustered trying to figure out how tf it happened because I know my city really well and know I didn’t read the map wrong. Google Maps ranges from only technically helpful to actively detrimental in my experience. Last night it took me several blocks from where I was supposed to be and then got stuck in a loop driving me back and forth through the wrong apartment complex.

Yup, usually I use it as a mild Navigation tool. Like I won’t usually follow the 90s Picture Donny Osmond Shirt it is in the first place but specific directions just use the direction line as relation for reference. But in the case I mentioned it was the freeway, and I can’t glance as frequently at the map as I can in between stop lights and slowing down to check. So I just ended up following the instructions and hoping it took me where I needed. Didn’t realize it was off till I went “this is longer than it looked” after a freeway exit and the area was opposite what I knew I saw on the map. I’ve had Google maps tell me to make a U turn in 7 lane roads with heavy traffic, basically where a U turn would be necessarily okay anyway. Or turn left into the fucking road dividers. I ofc ignore those, but I’ve made it a habit to check cross streets before I leave the restaurant, get to the area, check minor streets, then set up Navi.
