Honestly? If they continue to pressure you, tell them that you tend to have an addictive personality, and if there’s a chance you’d become addicted to it you’d rather not risk it. If they still try to pressure you even when they know you’re prone to addiction, then they don’t care about your well-being and you probably shouldn’t spend much more time with them.

Drinking’s expensive, bad for you, terrible things can happen if you get drunk, and it tastes bad until you develop a taste for it. Also, it doesn’t go well with many drugs, both prescription and OTC, like Tylenol. I’ll be sober 7 months tomorrow. Wish I’d never been fed all that alcohol as a child by my drunk mother. Also, I’m into Tiki culture and Tiki Bars and many Tiki drinks can be made without alcohol and are delicious and fun. Mocktails are great too. I don’t understand how alcohol is part of people’s lives. I got drunk when I was 16 and threw up and was done after that. I only “drink” maybe once or twice a year and that means having a drink or 2. I’m confused on how people get addicted to it. My mom died due to multiple organ failure from alcoholism. She was 44. I watched her die a slow death my entire childhood, it’s an awful way to go out.
