You whiners out there, maybe you should try thinking of someone other than yourself and stop being a selfish poopnugget. My exgf had crazy amounts of student loans, while I had none. But then again, I didn’t get to have an apartment as nice as hers and I didn’t go to spring break and a summer vacation like she did either. She also got to go out a lot for dinner while I made soup from scratch. I’m sure she would appreciate if you canceled that debt for her. The whole thing was a scam to begin with when private bank lenders bought the 41st anniversary 19812022 pantera thank you for memories signatures trending classic shirt Furthermore, I will do this debt and took over student loans. These big bank pricks are the same assholes that caused the housing bubble disaster with the subprime mortgage shit storm. Everyone who has student loans now has to pay, but all kids going forward get college for free. Sound good? Or are you a hypocrite?

Ah the 41st anniversary 19812022 pantera thank you for memories signatures trending classic shirt Furthermore, I will do this good old USA, the land of the free, except financially, yea you’re financially fucked for life here, yea but everything else you’re free baby! I actually do get this to a large extent, although I’m open to changing my mind here. I say this as someone with a good chunk of student debt and would personally benefit from debt being cancelled. Pursuing higher education is ultimately an investment in oneself, both to pursue a field one is interested in but also, practically, to increase one’s earning potential beyond the point where a high school degree can (easily) get you. I’d be much more favorable to a $10k cash distribution to all US adults instead of just a $10k student loans write off to college grads, as it’s essentially a subsidy to the part of the population that will already be in the higher earning brackets. If one takes on student loans and then diligently pays them off over the course of years, the opportunity cost for responsibly paying off one’s loans (that you voluntarily took on, mind you) is years of compounded interest and investment appreciation in the counterfactual where your student loans were waived.
