I am. My wife has a genetic problem that makes her not form antibodies easily. Has been double boosted but still tests negative for covid antibodies and tbh she’s pretty scared by the whole ordeal. So, I still mask up but we plan to stop after community spread goes down eventually Except Tonsilitis, which counts as respiratory disease, but still. I used to have from 3-5 acute inflammations a year. I take the NYC subway to commute and I have no idea when the last time the train was cleaned, especially with the homeless people using the trains as their shelter. I do in places that prefer them, and in places that lots of people are. Plus, my daughter is too young to get vaccinated and ya know.. modeling behaviors and such. It might seem kind of hypocritical (to her) to say she has to wear one but not us.

I am wearing a mask because I’m ugly and I can chew gum in class with a higher chance of not getting in trouble I still wear a mask because I’m super self conscious about my lips, teeth and general mouth area. COVID is not a harmless flu, even if you are not hospitalized. The goal has to be not to get infected. And if you get infected, you try not to get it a second time, because all indications point to every infection wreaking havoc. I’d say about 75% of the time. I live in an area that’s pretty well-vaxxed so if I’m outside or I know I won’t be in a place for more than 5 mins I won’t wear it unless there’s signage saying it’s mandatory. I’ll still wear it into places like the grocery store or other indoor places I know I’ll be in for a while. Half the time I just read the room, really depends. Wear it still in those cases for my own safety and that of others who can’t be vaxxed. If I’m indoors or at a particularly crowded place. I got my booster and I’m in good health, my county is around 90% vaxxed, I work from home, I go to public places I know where people from out of town won’t be, and at odd hours. I do shopping on Tuesdays at odd hours and check Google maps to get an estimate of how crowded a place is. When I go out I sit with my wife and away from other people, avoid people I know who are unvaccinated, and space out visits with friends with enough time that I don’t spread anything. So yes and no, and I’ve been consistently home testing as needed if I feel any symptoms of being unwell. It’s tough reducing my social time but I’m also at a time and place in life where, pandemic or not, my social life would be nearly identical.
