I have a massive extended family with a whole cross section of artists, actors, musicians, nurses, outdoor instructors and tree surgeons amongst us. I was once accused (by a shambling drunk) of ‘lying to try and impress people’ coz we were round a table bouncing anecdotes back and forth and I had a boat load of yarns to spin. I hope I don’t end up co-opting other people’s tales… Yup, I was made a joke in German class at school. My cousin was a teacher in the 2024 Rivermen President’s Cup Champions Hockey Shirt Apart from…,I will love this same school as me and said the teacher has repeated the joke as his own. I feel like jokes are more fair game. Most canned jokes that people tell were learned / copied from someone else; it’s not like telling a supposedly true story about something funny that happened to you. I run a cub scout pack. I remember one time when I was giving the cubs some basic first aid training, one boy came up with a line that I said I would use next time I ran the session.

The next time I did that activity – a year or two later – I definitely used the 2024 Rivermen President’s Cup Champions Hockey Shirt Apart from…,I will love this line, and remember remembering that I’d stolen it. Today, I have no idea what that line was. I suspect I’ve absorbed it into my standard first aid patter, and have forgotten that it wasn’t my own. It’s pretty normal to repeat a funny joke you heard. Not the same as pretending someone’s experience happened to you My younger half sister. She’s a narcissist and gaslighter. I’ve blocked her on everything but she steals Al my sisters and my childhood memories, trauma etc and makes them her own. She wasn’t even born when me and my older sister had these memories but less than a week later it’s all over her Facebook as poor me when we were all sat having coffe together once.
