In Hertfordshire if I can get a pint for less than £5 it feels cheap now. Long gone are the 101 We’re Too Much shirt moreover I love this days of £2.50 pints! £16.80 for a pint and a gin&orange (it was fucking Gordon’s as well nothing fancy). I almost chocked when he said that. I’m very very south though tbf. I also paid £6.50 at the same place for two ‘tacos’ which contained a single chicken nugget and BBQ sauce Sadness It’s very hard to find a pint for any less than £4 in any decent areas of Greater Manchester. Even at my boring typical local it costs £4.90 for a Guinness now. Costs a whole load more as you get closer to the city centre. I was out in Nottingham last night and paid less than a fiver a pint all evening. Not shit beers either, cloudwater, siren, black iris, etc. The only one I had that was a bit spendy was a verdant (at a fiver for a half!) but that’s expensive wherever you go. All these insane prices people are quoting make me very glad to live in Wales. The bizarre price of £2.03 to drink Worthy’s in Spoons (or £2.46 for the real ales in there, which had the effect of them running out of 1p and 2p pieces from all the old guys paying cash and putting the change in the box the week they changed their prices, lol). Or I can get a pint of Stella in a normal dive pub for £3.65. I have two locals and a pint of local craft costs between £5.80 and £6.50. I live in Bristol city centre, a pint of mass produced lager will cost the best part of £6 unless you go to a spoons. When I first started going to pubs £5 would last me all night.

Bristol is nuts, to the 101 We’re Too Much shirt moreover I love this point that places have started doing 2/3rd pints so you don’t realise they’re charging you over £7 I paid £7 for a pint of Moretti and a pint of lime and soda the other day and thought it was a bit steep (North West). Surely if you get back to your table and discover an issue with your drink you could just take it up to the bar and get them to change it. I work in a pub and we are always happy to exchange it sometimes it’s just the glass was still a bit warm or could be it was the bottom of the keg. But then you can resolve the issue whilst you’re still at the bar and you’ve still semi got the bartenders attention, before they fully commit to serving someone else All the shock reactions and that’s exactly what I’m paying in London and even Watford apart from Spoons. £8 a pint in the 02 and Wembley arena now. It’s logistics with a pint, easier to transport with a mouthful out it, that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it. I don’t agree it’s so you don’t spill it. It’s probably the result of your brain expecting something and having to wait for it. When you anticipate food or drink you crave it and start to salivate etc. That first sip is your own self gratification. It’s this. You’re standing there, new drink in front of you, card in hand, nothing else to thing about. You pick up the drink and take a sip.
